Last card before Christmas - and a horrible discovery

Afternoon all, somewhere amongst all my last minute scampering around, I found time on Saturday to make a card for the current Winter Wonderland challenge of Wish Upon A Star and it seems right to be posting it on Christmas Eve.

Painted her with Distress Inks (ReInkers)
I'm not happy with the window, I should have taken more time to tidy that up
Papers are Dovecraft Back To Basics and Kaisercraft
And of course good old Nestabilities

In a pre-Christmas tidying frenzy I made a horrible discovery - as most of you know, I craft in our conservatory in a limited space, so there is quite a lot of stuff on the floor in boxes.  Today I discovered that my cardboard box full of paper pads, mostly Basic Grey, has been ruined by damp.  The box is on the tiled floor nearest the outside door so I don't know if we have a leak, or if it is condensation - but I've had to thrown most of them out (about 20 pads).  Somewhat miffed, but nothing I can do about it now.  Bugger.

All that remains is for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and I trust that as you have all been nice this year (you have, haven't you?) that Santa will visit you tonight!

Hugs, Sxx

Oh no, I would so much hate to throw paper away, especially Basic Grey since it's my favorite brand... However they do have a thing for "worn" paper, so maybe not all is ruined? I'm thinking vintage cards...

Firstly what a bummer with your paper hun, that would really upset me. Secondly what a gorgeous card and yes very appropriate day to post. Have a wonderful time. Hope Santa brings you some lovely nuts to eat or have you already squirreled some away, lol!

Ohhhh, I am so sorry about your papaer! I love basic grey! That would be heartbreaking!

Could you gradually build up a supply of plastic bins...maybe even just those large everyday ones...not specifically for papercrafts? Don't know if that would help with condensation but if it was a leak it would.

Merry Christmasy and I hope that Santa brings lots of new crafty supplies to help ease the shock of your Basic Grey paper loss.

Aww, I'm so sorry about your discovery Squirrel :( I guess the only silver lining is that you have an excuse to buy lots of new things to replace them now, right?

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year, and looking forward to seeing loads of your lovely work next year :)

I have it on good authority that Santa likes naughty little girls (heh heh heh [dirty laughter]). Love your card, very wintery and seasonal appropriate. And about your paper.... oh I weep for you. That breaks my heart. A moment of silence for your loss.

I had a huge stash of homemade paper (not made by me, but that style) that I never used because I was afraid my card wouldn't be good enough or the recipient wouldn't appreciate it enough. Anyway, pretty much the same thing happened to me and I had to toss it all. It made me realize that it was sooo much better to use it period even if my card didn't do the paper justice or the person didn't understand how special the paper was than to toss it out unused. I'm not saying you were hoarding your paper, just saying.... been there, done that, cried the tears.

Hi 'S', so sorry to hear all your papers have been ruined. It sounds like condensation to me.

I hope you had a great time on Christmas Day and can I take this opportunity to wish you a Very Happy New Year.
